The Three Capes Scenic Route runs along the coast west of Tillamook. This byway provides access to Cape Meares, Cape Lookout, and Cape Kiwanda. Away from busy Highway 101, the beautiful Capes area is another great find for everything we like to do.

The most colorful cape along the Oregon coast is Cape Kiwanda. Instead of basalt formation, this cape is mostly sandstone with high concentration of iron oxide which causes its bright red and orange coloration.

The sandstone crumbles easily so you can't get too close to the edge

No, you're not in Utah

The cape is full of hidden coves and crashing waves

Dory boats are unique to Cape Kiwanda

Geno was biking by Whisky Creek Cafe when he caught a glance of the "homemade pie and oysters" sign. He whipped his bike around...it was time for lunch! Best darn tootin' oyster poor boy he 'ite . . . followed by homemade banana cream pie

Between rainstorms, we hiked the 5-mile trail out to the end of Cape Lookout The trail hugs the edge of the cape through a thicket of spruce and fir trees

A plaque honors airmen who crashed near the Cape in 1943

The trail ends at the edge of the continent View south toward Cape Kiwanda
