HISTORIC HIGHWAY -- TROUTDALE TO THE FALLS

Not quite ready to leave the Columbia Gorge, we moved from White Salmon, WA, to Troutdale, OR, near the western edge of the Gorge and the start of the historic Columbia River Highway.

Geno cycled this part of the highway from our campground to the main waterfalls.

This ATRV can go over any terrain but gets only 6 mpg...ouch!

WATERFALL HIKES

Upper Latourelle Falls -- note dramatic layer of basalt formation

We started to hike the Oneonta Gorge, but a logjam would cause us to walk in chest-high water . . .

. . . so we started off from Horsetail Falls instead, hiking to Triple Falls

OUT AND ABOUT NEAR PORTLAND

Celebrating the end of the Oregon Trail in Oregon City

We've seen segments of the Oregon Trail on previous trips -- Geno's '96 cross-country bike tour, return trip with our teardrop trailer in '04 -- so we had to see the "End of the Trail"

Another great roadside attraction -- plenty of fresh seafood . . . and buffalo?
