| Hells Canyon, carved by the Snake River, lies east of the Wallowa Mountains. We drove part of the Hells Canyon Scenic Byway, from Joseph to Halfway to Baker City to LaGrande and back to Joseph. Geno cycled much of this route twice before -- on his cross-country bike trip in 1996 and on his loaded bike tour with Herb and Dick in 2001.
